Who We Are
Back in June, I was catching up with a friend from college and I told her my plans to take a year off from work to travel South America. She said “That sounds awesome, I want to come!” I asked if she was serious, if she could be my Spanish translator, and if she could save some cash. She said yes, and the rest is history. That week I told my dad, “She’s the only woman I can imagine taking on a year long trip through the jungles and mountains of South America, and also potentially marrying one day”. I should have realized I was in trouble then. Within a month we were happily dating, and now we hope to keep the spark alive as we travel around South America together for the next year.
Who We Want to Be (Why We Travel)
“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes
Although we’ve traveled the world in the past, we’ve never lived anywhere outside of Oklahoma. As Mark Twain once said, “Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all of one’s lifetime”. Or as Saint Augustine would tell you, “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page”. We haven’t yet read every page, but it’s on our list.
About Luke

Hey I’m Luke, a 25 year-old born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Growing up, my family never had new cars or a big TV or even cable. Instead we spent our money on vacations. My favorite memories are of horseback riding through the jungles of Costa Rica, hiking glaciers in Alberta, walking the Great Wall, backpacking the Rockies and the Himalayas, and always looking for the path less traveled. At 18 I made my first trip south of the equator, to Fortaleza Brazil, on a missions trip. I fell in love with everything about Brazil, and swore I would return one day. In the meantime, I graduated from Oral Roberts University with a degree in Finance. I began my career in public accounting, earning my CPA and serving as a Senior Auditor at Grant Thornton, LLP. I have always feared waking up 20 years down the road, having gained wealth and “success”, but having lost all else. So I decided it was time to quit the rat race and stop to ask (and hopefully answer) the big questions, like “what really matters”, “what should my future look like”, you get the idea. And thus begins the journey I hope will show me the way to the rest of my life.
About Sarahi

I’m Sarahi, and while I generally don’t admit it, I’m a beautiful, talented, kind, intelligent, and super fun person. I’m 25, grew up in Fairview Oklahoma, and work the Oklahoma GOP as the Director of Finance. I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a double major in Spanish and French. Needless to say, I have a passion for language because it allows me to meet incredible people in awesome places. In college I spent a month backpacking through Europe, sleeping in Hostels, and sometimes the park, all while realizing what a diverse and wonderful world we live in. For years I’ve dreamed of a long term adventure in which I can truly be submerged in another place and culture. It’s finally here, and I can’t wait to fully experience South America.
^^This is what awesome boyfriends write.

I pray you all the best of adventures trekking through South America. I pray blessings on the love you all will surly find seeking each other as your only earthly refuge.

You guys probably don’t remember me, but I was one of the college girls from RI that met you in Valle de la Luna in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile. Anyway just had to say I read your blog all the time now, it’s so sweet and I love hearing about all the new places you have been to. Also, my girlfriends and I still talk about how amazing you both were both separately and as a couple even after two months. Thanks for being awesome and keep writing please! 🙂
